India’s cabinet has approved the “National Green Hydrogen Mission”, to make India a global green hydrogen hub by 2030, including:
- development of green hydrogen production capacity of at least 5 million metric tonnes per year, with an associated renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 GW in the country
- creation of over 600,000 jobs
- cumulative reduction in fossil fuel imports
- abatement of nearly 50 million metric tonnes of annual greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
