At least 12 countries will meet in Stockholm this week to discuss a “nuclear alliance” that will advocate for nuclear power as a low-carbon energy source in EU energy policies.
The meeting will take place on the sidelines of a EU energy ministers meeting. The countries due to attend are Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Italy, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, the Netherlands and Finland, as well as the European Commission.
The move puts further pressure on Germany and Spain who have policies in place to phase out their nuclear power stations.
