— Notes from the WNA in London
We’ve just wrapped the World Nuclear Symposium in London, and we’ve been speaking “live” with CEOs and experts from across the uranium mining industry for our latest, in-depth Boom Bust BS podcast series on the state-of-play in the uranium mining space.
All the interviews are below, and the big take-aways from our founder, Anthony Milewski, are:
- term pricing is at all-time highs, with whispers of $105, eclipsing the last cycle.
- broad interest: attendance has jumped from ~700 last year to nearly 1,300 this year.
- unlike previous years, AI, hyperscaler and tech players are everywhere, scrambling to secure power.
- Rolls-Royce is pushing the SMR story hard; their design could be operational by 2030/31, opening the door to true scale in SMR build-out.
- the recent U spot price liquidation was speculators selling as the war kicked off; spot is recovering, and most see a much higher incentive price needed to deliver stable nuclear baseload.
- as with rare earths, governments are visibly in the mix, signaling support and potential funding for projects, processing and development.
- energy is now treated as a national security issue, with uranium and nuclear front and centre.
- the full value chain is here: miners, builders and power consumers.
- non-specialist fund managers are in the room, hunting for alpha.
Time and again we heard the same line: this is the most exciting the conference has felt in decades. Feels max bullish!
